In 1946 my mother went to a seer, that saw me coming.
He told her not to worry about me taking everything apart...that I would learn to put it all back together again. The love of making things that lives within me, started very young.
Growing up on the plains was great; being in the big winds of tornadoes, hearing the large hail upon the roof, and the snow time being so very cold.
I continue to have a wild life...
Mato's Silverworks begin in a sacred place within his dreams.
He manifests his dreamtime visions into this world by fabricating flat sheets and wires of sterling silver.
These are hammered, hand-stamped, dapped, shaped, soldered, stones set and then finished by removing scratches and being hand-polished.
This insures a high quality craftsmanship, and that no two pieces will ever be exactly alike.
Mato's wife Lynda, works in collaboration with him, incorporating his pieces into beaded necklaces that she designs and executes.
Together they maintain their studios in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains in Southern Oregon.
