Nature was the major childhood teacher of Marie Saint-Marie. Her formal
university education included degrees in Education and English, after
which she spent 8 years teaching high school and college English,
Mythology and Communications; and she was coordinator and script
writer for public educational TV. Simultaneously, Mary studied Fine
Arts at the University of Wisconsin.
At
this point Mary had a spontaneous soul merging experience followed
shortly by a head-on car collision where she saw her “Life via
her Soul.” This was the catalyst to be an artist and for a solo
journey “overland” to Spain, Morocco, Italy, Greece, Crete,
Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Indian and Kashmir where she absorbed
the art, culture, heart and soul of those peoples. Upon her return
to the U.S. Mary began her first art exhibitions and traveled to wilderness
areas for two years. Since 1974 Mary has lived with simplicity in a
quiet mountain retreat in Mt. Shasta California where she is a visionary
artist, educator, ceremonialist and mother of two daughters. Mary is
of mixed ancestry that includes English, Native American, Scotch-Irish
and French.
Mary Saint-Marie draws and paints from within, allowing
herself to be a vehicle for expressing art. She becomes empty before
painting…then
meditates on the ONE Light…Spirit. Her art reflects her experiences
and journeys to inner realms. Mary allows the Ancient Beauty of primordial,
primal. Imagery to reflect itself from the negative spaces of the mixed
media, working in reverse. Mary works with “feeling the energies
of Essence,” playing back and forth between the form and formless,
the visible and invisible…always using the human form as “Temple
template of the Soul,” and allowing it to reveal the “ethnic
blends and bleed-throughs” from all time and space and all non-time
and non-space. By meditating on the ONEness, the experience of mergings
and blendings with all the Kingdoms of the Great Mother, with the elements,
with the Divine Archetypes may come. “It is then that we glimpse
our own “Star Stone Essence,” our multidimensional nature…what5
I playfully call Galactic Shamanism…or the marriage of earth
and sky…or more simply put…LOVE,” says Mary.
“Sacred Art is a planetary transformational tool to expand Consciousness…It
is a catalyst for Ancient Rememberings…of the Dance of the Holy
ONE.”
